Ibn Sina, or (in the West) Avicenna
The books give an overview of the contemporary medical knowledge of the Islamic world, together with Persian, Chinese and Indian medicine. Avicenna (980 - 1037), Persian, is regarded as one of the most significant physicians, astronomers, philosophers, and writers of his time. Besides philosophy and medicine, his body of work includes writings on astronomy, alchemy, geography and geology, psychology, Islamic theology, logic, mathematics, physics, and works of poetry.
