Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire)
The Kinks built the album as the soundtrack to a proposed TV play, the plot of which revolved around Arthur Morgan, a carpet-layer. Although the album failed to chart in the UK when it was released and charted low in the US, the eighth studio album which was recorded and released in 1970, "Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One", reached the Top 10 again in both the UK and the US.
