The bomber, eventually found to be Eric Rudolph, said the motive was "…to confound, anger and embarrass the Washington government in the eyes of the world for its abominable sanctioning of abortion on demand." Two people died and 111 were injured. The bomb at Centennial Park was one of four to which Rudolph confessed in 2005, the others being two at abortion clinics and one at a lesbian bar.
