The Red Sea

A rift valley is formed by the subsidence of a part of the Earth’s crust between dip-slip faults, and the Red Sea rift extends from the Dead Sea Transform fault system, to an intersection with the Aden Ridge and the East African Rift. The Great Rift Valley is in the process of splitting the African Plate into two new separate plates.
